Section A16: Sports, Schools and Society
Sports, Schools, and Society will introduce students to controversies surrounding youth, intercollegiate, recreational and professional sports in the United States. We will approach sports from several different disciplinary perspectives as we look at the economics of revenue-producing NCAA sports, the impact of Title IX, the emphasis on athletics on Division III campuses as well as the science of sport and fitness and the representation and news coverage of women and men in sports. The class will feature a good deal of writing, including optional sports journalism assignments
